It's always nice to kick off another month of blogging with a fantastic brownie recipe! For this one I used the basic "Baked" brownie recipe and added a layer of caramel and a sprinkling of sea salt. Super Yummy!
Brownies
(salted caramel style)
1 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
11 oz. dark chocolate
1 cup butter
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
5 eggs
soft caramels cut into small pieces
sea salt
Preheat oven to 325 degrees
In a large bowl combine the flour, salt, and cocoa.
In a saucepan melt the butter with the chocolate. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Allow to cool a bit. Stir in the sugars and the eggs. Add chocolate to the flour mixture.
Pour 1/2 of the batter into the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch pan. Cover this layer with the caramel pieces. Top the caramel with the remaining brownie batter. Sprinkle the top layer with sea salt.
Bake about 30 minutes.
Allow to cool completely before cutting!
