Delectable!

You may have heard that I like peanut butter. If not you know now. I really like peanut butter. I read about someone who just gave up peanut butter for lent. More peanut butter for me :)

At any rate.....I came across something downright amazing! A recipe for cookies and cream peanut butter!
Jenny from Picky Palate came up with this stuff. She recommends eating it straight out of the jar.

Perfection???

I took Zac and Mia in the stroller so that we could walk to pick Max up from school today.
The day has been gorgeous! 80 degrees and blue skies. I was feeling glad to be out but kind of huffing and puffing behind the stroller. As we neared the school I was passed by a male jogger. He was wearing only his shoes and a pair of shorts. He was tan all over and very toned. He looked kind of like a machine as he ran. It seriously appeared to take no effort as he flew along. I enjoy exercise. I love the gym, but I never look like a machine as I struggle along on the treadmill. I am never tan all over when I cover my curvy white legs with stretchy pants and I ALWAYS wear a shirt. I am far from toned. I embrace my curves. Still....I couldn't help but feel a little extra squishy as the soldier glided by on his cloud of perfection.
Later at the school....one of the dads came up and apologized for not saying hi when he jogged by me earlier. He said he now had his shirt on so I probably wouldn't recognize him. (He wasn't the jogger. He was just being funny and it was hilarious!)
Here's to feeling fit in our not so perfect selves.

I need

To start packing.
I am usually the most organized mover/packer in the world. I start early and by moving day everything is nicely boxed and labeled. I just sit back and relax while Ty loads the truck. Something about this move has thrown off my groove. Between the unknown closing dates and being in my parent's house I have thus far packed nothing. We are moving in 6 days and it is just starting to feel real. I think this rest of this week will involve boxes and tape and sharpees. I am sure I will find time to blog and watch house hunters and make cookies, but in between I will be packing!
It has been a crazy beginning to the year. I am really looking forward to spending the rest of it as a family in our own home! Ty and I are supposed to have a final walk through sometime this week and maybe then I can get some good pictures to post. The previous tenants were pretty messy and I haven't had a chance to get pictures yet. If not this week for sure next week after the move!
That is my excitement and craziness for today. I hope everyone is having a great week!

Ty and I

Ty was on call yesterday and ended up getting called in and spending his entire Sunday at work. He had today off so after dropping Max off at school and getting my mom to watch Zac and Mia we ran away for a little while. We went to Victoria Gardens. It is a huge outdoor shopping center full of great shops and restaurants. We went early in the day and because it had been raining there were very few people out. We had so much fun walking and talking and shopping. Ty had to stop at the Apple store and ask about a million questions. I am just hoping that he one day buys a computer that he feels good about. I stopped in at Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, Williams Sonoma, Bath and Body Works, Victoria's Secret, The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, and the Gap! Surprisingly I left with only one bag from Bath and Body works full of anti-bacterial hand soap for all of our bathrooms, and maybe one tiny bag from the chocolate factory! While we were walking around I remembered being at Victoria Garden's years earlier. I remembered what I had bought on that trip and I was going to tell Ty about it but I suddenly realized that he had been there too. It is strange that we are to the point that my long ago memories still involve him and our life together.
It was totally refreshing to be out. I love our little date nights/mornings/whenever we get a moment!
It is always worth it.

Rocky Road!

Yesterday Ty decided it would be a good time to tell me that he really likes rocky road cookies. We've been married 8 years and I am always baking cookies, so why now? Why am I just learning this information now? He could have been enjoying rocky road cookies for years! Oh well.....
I have never made rocky road cookies. Rocky road is my very favorite ice cream flavor. I have made rocky road fudge, but not cookies. So today I chopped up some almonds and marshmallows and made some...

 Rocky Road Cookies !!

I used a basic chocolate cookie recipe and then added chocolate chips, nuts, and the marshmallows. The result was kind of a mess, but a delicious mess. I would recommend baking these on parchment paper for best results.

Lovahhhh!!!!

Disclaimer: This post is not meant to offend or make anyone uncomfortable....it's just fun... Thank you!

I found myself doing a little blog hopping the other day and came across an interesting read. The author wrote about how she disliked using the word "lover", especially when speaking of her husband. She feels that the word can be considered dirty or bad. I personally enjoy using the word "lover", especially when speaking of my husband. I read once, in a book about marriage, that if a husband and wife will refer to each other as "lover" it will bring you closer. I know it sounds a bit silly, but I think it works :)
I sometimes update my facebook status by saying that I am going out with my lover. I am always referring to Ty. Why should the word not be used inside of marriage? Or anywhere else? Like when Carrie Bradshaw sees a pair of perfect shoes in a store window and says, "Hello Lover!"

It's just my opinion, but I don't think the word lover is all that bad. I think it is a great little word that adds a little spice to the everyday.

A New Day

Yesterday things got a little crazy. I complained all over the place....on the blog, on facebook, on the phone, and to my poor husbands face.

By the end of the night I was feeling much better. I had a bit more perspective.

This morning I woke up and had prayer and scripture study. I felt very inspired to move forward with faith and to find joy today and each day! I know not everyone is a big fan of Pollyanna, but today she is my role model. Today I just want to be glad and I think with a combination of the right ingredients (family, faith, chocolate...)that is very possible.

The Spirit of Christ is given to all men and there is light in each of us. I know that light can shine brightly and can be used to lift and inspire. I also know that we can dim our light and hide it from the world. Today I want to shine.

I know I shouldn't......

But I am going to.......COMPLAIN!

Our house is taking forever to close! It was a short sale and I feel like we have been in escrow for a very long time. I was hoping we would be able to move in this weekend or at the very latest next weekend, but we won't be closing until the 15th! I don't really understand what all of the hullabaloo is about. We want to buy the house. Our offer was approved. We have the money. The house is vacant. For goodness sake!
I keep pushing back Max's start date at his new school, but I would love for him to just go ahead and start so that he could start making some friends. I don't really want to drive from Redlands to Beaumont every day to take him to school, so it doesn't really make sense to start him before we move.

Living with my parents has been a blessing and a burden. We couldn't have made it on our own at first. We really needed the help. I am grateful for my parents willingness to help us. BUT....I think I have had enough of the help for now. I am getting so tired of cleaning my mother's house. I so just want to clean my own house. I want to make friends and influence people :)

Blah Blah Blah

2 more weeks.

Gossip Girl! (and romance)

I just finished watching last night's episode of Gossip Girl :)
(I love Tivo!)
I have been on team Chuck and Blair since the beginning but........
Blair and Dan!
I think I am changing sides!

Also: Right in the middle of my guilty pleasure tv watching the doorbell rang. Ty sent me a big vase full of red roses. I am so melting all over the floor right now.

Mornings

By 8:15 this morning the kids and I were all dressed, Max was completely done with his homework for the week (yes, the week, his teacher sends the weeks work home on Monday and he thinks it is hilarious to do all of it and turn it in on Tuesday....very strange.), and we were bored.
At 8:15!
Max still had and hour and a half until school started. I decided we should all go to Chick-Fil-A! Chick-Fil-A is one of my go to places. I can feed everyone for cheap. Today we shared 2 orders of hashbrowns for $2. The kids got to play and I got to sit while listening to country music and missing Nashville!
We made a quick Target run, well I meant it to be quick. I just needed diapers, but those dang dollar bins!
and Finally it was off to school for Max!
Sometimes I am amazed at what we do before noon. I wish there was more going on early in the day!
Yesterday I made the best chocolate chip cookies that were made with browned butter. Today I found a recipe for brownies that are also made with browned butter. So very interesting. So much butter to brown.
How was your morning?
