Because of the complications Mia had when she was born, my doctor was concerned for our current little baby and wanted to do a stress test and another ultrasound, just to make sure everything was going smoothly in there. The whole process took much longer than I thought and Mia was so patient. I promised her than when we got home she could have an ice cream bar. She is the cutest little ice cream eater ever!
We spent our afternoon and evening at the best park! We met up with some friends from Gallatin for a BBQ.
We are having another fabulous weekend of delightfully cool weather. I did not think the kids would want to swim, but Max did. He waded into the water wearing his boxer shorts.
It was such a perfect evening. The food was great. I will be sad to see an end to the summer cookouts with friends.
Mia fell asleep in the car on the way to the park and she took a while to warm up to everything and everyone but she ended up having a great time.
After dinner we headed over to the playground to let the kids play a little and wear themselves out before we headed home.
We ended the evening with some mexican spiced brownies. Super yummy. It was the perfect end to a Sunday.
Earlier this week we received a HUGE package full of Christmas! Ty's Grandma Newman sent the most adorable quilts and blankets. Max and Mia love them and I know the baby will too! Thank You Grandma Newman!
Max had his first soccer practice today! We had him all ready with his shin gaurds, soccer socks, and his very own ball. Max is on Team Italy! He was so excited to meet his coach.
They started out with some basic exercises; kicking the ball around some strategically placed cones and trying to make a goal (which was surprisingly difficult considering there was no goalie)
Max had a great time on his first day and I was very impressed with the coach's patience with the little kids. I think it is going to be a great soccer season! Here's hoping we win a game! Go Italy!
Last night we got together with some friends for a pool party and a bbq. The weather was gorgeous, very fall like. Not very appropriate for swimming but the kids got in anyway.
Max decided pretty quickly that he was too cold to swim, but Mia is a water bug.
Mia finally decided she was freezing and warmed up in a cozy towel.
Max started in on dessert first and had several chocolate chip cookies.
Trisha found a great deal on steaks and we were all able to enjoy the find. I hadn't had a good steak in a long time and it was delicious!
Kevin the grillmaster and Ty the sioux chef. It was a great afternoon and the kids came home so tired! They were both asleep by 8. Ty and I finished out the evening with a movie and some leftover pie from the party!
August has definately been the month for parties and birthdays. Today we went to little Lukas' 1st birthday party! Lukas' mom, Alayna, is a fabulous pastry chef. Check out the adorable monster cake she made for the occasion!
Max was able to snag a piece of cake complete with a monster eyeball.
There were super fun games for the kids. Max was an expert at the bean bag toss and Mia loved the fishing game.
This is when things got a little crazy and Max and Mia turned into little monsters (in a good way )
They are the cutest little monsters I have ever seen!
We had a great time. It was so much fun. The food was great, and the company was fabulous.
Today is Max's 4th birthday! We have had a very festive day to celebrate. This morning we went to Chuck E Cheese. It is still Max's favorite place to play, and it was soooo hot today so I was glad to be inside!
Mia came with us. She likes to be in on the fun.
We came away with a superman glider and several lollipops.
Our great friend, Rob made a very special cake for Max! It was so beautiful. I felt bad cutting into it, especially when Max said he wanted to eat the Ninja Turtle's head!
4 candles didn't look like much on the cake. Max was able to blow out the candles all at once.
We ended the evening with sparklers leftover from the Fourth of July. Max is the greatest little guy. We love him tons and enjoy seeing how he grows and progresses every day! Happy Birthday Max!
Mia brought me the camera and wanted to have her own little photo shoot. Both she and Max love to have their pictures taken and then to look at themselves on the camera or the computer.
Ty came home from his clinical rotation this afternoon in the middle of Mia's nap. I took advantage of the situation and left him with the kids so I could run over to a nearby consignment sale and do some baby boy clothes shopping! I had a great time and found some great deals! I think I have everything I need for this little boy now!
Hurray! Our free corn dogs came today! We had ourselves a little corn dog party. Max and Mia are big fans of any food that comes on a stick or in a cone. It is always fun to get a package, especially when it is free!
This morning, while the kids were messy and in need of a bath, I decided to have a little finger painting party on the patio. Max was super excited. He loves painting, especially with his hands and fingers. He jumped right in with gusto.
Mia was much more hesitant. She is, after all, my girlie girl. I finally enticed her to dip the tip of one finger into the paint.
She then dabbed her little finger tip on the paper and was done with the finger painting experience.
Here is some of the finished artwork. (all by Max) SO talented!
While Max continued to paint Mia and I came inside for a snack. We had almonds and homeade fudge! I love fudge and I usually make it at Christmas time, but I have been craving it and this Christmas I will be working on getting back into shape so I decided why not enjoy fudge now?
Rocky Road Fudge

1. Melt together in a saucepan: chocolate chips, butter, salt, and condensed milk. 2. Remove pan from heat and stir in the marshmallows and pecans. 3. Spoon fudge into a lined 8x8 inch pan and refrigerate until set. Cut into pieces. Store in the fridge or freezer. :)
It has been a great weekend! Tomorrow is another week! Our weekend started off with a fantastic Friday night dinner date. We went to Chef's in Goodlettsville. It was so delish! We will definately be going back. Ty and I got to sit and talk for 2 hours! So much fun. Saturday I spent the morning making cupcakes for Max's sunbeam class. His birthday is Wednesday, so I thought cupcakes were called for. We spent the evening with some friends watching movies and eating snacks. It was a great way to spend a Saturday night. Today Ty had his big comprehensive exam for school, so he had to miss church, but tomorrow he is officially a senior! He got all A's again. He is so amazing. I just think he is the greatest! We had dinner with some friends who will be moving soon, so it was good to spend a little time with them! This week I am looking forward to my free Schwan's order, Max's birthday, cake, and a lunch with the girls! I hope everyone had a great weekend!
I heard about this great deal from Schwans! You can order up to $10.00 of free food online with free delivery. I am getting 16 corn dogs for .06 cents! Woohoo! Here is the site: www.schwans.com/free
What birthday box would be complete without a Buzz Lightyear?! Max was very excited to have a Buzz of his own, but a little disapointed that the toy could not actually fly :)
As usual the box stole the show. Mia used it as a safe place to hide from the robot dinosaur that came in it!
I just got back from my 34 week appointment. I told my doctor about Ty's week off in September and he said he would be happy to induce me on the 21st or 22nd if the baby has not come yet! I am super excited. I am so glad the timing will work out. Can't wait! :)
Max's 4th birthday is coming up on August 19th. We have been planning on buying him a bike for the occasion. This morning when Ty took the garbages out to the dumpster he found this fabulous little boys bike! He brought it home and fixed it up a bit with his tools and it really looks as good as new. We feel really blessed by our dumpster find and Max is thrilled with his early birthday present.
Ty's youngest brother, Seth, is currently serving a mission here in Nashville, Tennessee! Today we had the amazing opportunity to go out to lunch with he and his companion! Ty's favorite burger place is Steak and Shake, so that is where we went.
I was surprised that the restaurant was such a nice little sit down place. They had the cutest hats for the kids to wear!
Mia was adorable modeling hers. We all ate burgers and fries and afterwards Ty treated us all to shakes because they happened to be half-price. Happy!
Seth tried to help the kids win an animal prize, but sadly it was to no avail. We had a great time. Keep up the good work Elder Newman!
