A New Week!

It has been a great Monday so far! The morning was a little busy, because last night I had a major chocolate cake craving followed by a lack of desire to clean the kitchen so this morning I had quite the mess waiting for me. After the clean up we went to the library for storytime. I had to check out Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory to see if Willy Wonka is really as weird as he is portrayed in the movies. Next we went to the grocery store. It was just about lunch time and I was a little worried that the kids would be starving, but luckily we were able to get free cookies from the bakery, ham and cheese from the deli, and some other great samples that helped tide everyone over. By the time we made it home the day had really warmed up and we were able to go to the playground and dig in the sand. At home I made a batch of razzle dazzle and now we are anxiously awaiting some mac and cheese. I hope everyone is having a great Monday!
BTW: camera is out of batteries....will replace soon :)

Primary Party!

Today was the primary Easter activity. It was so much fun! We put together little packages with candy and poems and pictures of Jesus, and then we took them to the care center across the street from the church building. We gave out the packages and the kids sang songs to the people at the care center. When we got back to the church the kids had an Egg hunt and then we ate rice krispy treats and lemonade. It was a great activity. The leaders did a wonderful job.

Happy Baby Liz!

My friend Liz is due to have her second little boy in about 3 weeks. She is moving out of our apartment complex and into a house this weekend, so some friends and I got together to throw her a surprise shower/goodbye party. Esther made the food. We had chicken salad on croissants and fruit pizza. It was very girlie and very good! I set up a place on our patio for the kids to play and watch a movie. Jenna came with her little boys. It was a great success. We all chipped in and got her a Dr. Seuss bathroom set for her new house. She was so excited! We love you Liz!

Soup and a lack of income

Tonight I made a big pot of chicken soup with matzo balls. I felt very jewish and it was delicious. Sometimes it sounds so easy to just order a pizza, but I never regret fixing a meal for us at home. It has been difficult to give up some things like eating out, but I am getting to be a much better cook with all of the practice!

Pie and Bubbles

Yesterday was a beautiful windy day. I took the kids to Moss Wright Park. On the way there we stopped at Center Point Barbeque so that I could get one of their little pecan pies. It is $2 of joy in a patty pan....anyway...the park was great. Max and Mia had a great time.
After the park we went to World Market and bought a bunch of bubbles. It was an afternoon of bubble blowing at our house. I am glad we took advantage of the day because today it is raining and we are inside again! We are planning on making cookies and watching a movie to pass the time. Have a great rainy day!

Goodlettsville Fire Department

Today we had a super fun field trip to the Goodlettsville Fire Department!
Max got to help out the firemen and pass out the hats and coloring books to all of the kids in our little playgroup.
This is Max in the truck with his friend's Levi and Maya. I think we ended up fitting about 10 more kids into the truck before we were done. Mia would have no part of the truck. She preferred to view it from the outside.
We piled all of the kids onto the front of the truck for a picture. Nobody fell off!
Fireman Max all ready to go! It was a great field trip. Max really enjoyed it. It was neat to see everything up close and the firemen were so nice to all of the kids! Thanks to all that made it happen!

Out with Daddy

I was feeling really queasy today so my awesome husband Ty took the kids out for some fun. Max recently got a bunch of sand toys from a friend and has been dying to try them out. Ty took them to the volleyball court at our complex so that they could dig to their hearts content. (I know it looks like Max has a giant gash from his wrist to his elbow, but it is only marker)
After the sand they stopped by the playground.

Mia had a great time with her daddy! I had a great nap and felt much better! Thanks Ty, you are the best!

Donut Day!

Friday is Donut Day at Bristol Park. The office buys donuts for everyone. We stopped by on our way to the store. Max picked out a chocolate donut while Mia picked one covered in cinnamon sugar. It was so cute to peak in my rear view mirror and see Mia taking gigantic bites of her sugary donut!

Harry Potter

I finally got around to reading the 7th and final Harry Potter book. I thought it was great and I am really glad that I took the time to read it. I am also really glad to be done with it, because for the past week that is all that I have done. I love a good book, but it is so hard to focus on anything else when the lives of Ron and Hermione hang in the balance.

It is officially Hot Dog season!

Yesterday was one of those gorgeous spring days here in Nashville. We spent most of the day outside enjoying the sunshine. Later in the afternoon, after the husbands were home, all of our friends from the building came outside with their kids and we decided to have a BBQ. It was so much fun. The kids had a great time running around together. The hot dogs were amazing. Sometimes there is nothing better than a grilled hot dog! I am so excited for the rest of the season!

1:00 Church

Every Sunday I feed everyone lunch and last minute put the kids in the tub in an attempt to get them to church clean and food free. After their baths I get them dressed and combed. By this time it is usually around 12:30 and it never fails that Mia falls sound asleep! At least she looks beautiful while she naps.

Bookstores and Bunnies

Every Saturday I take the kids to storytime at the Hendersonville Barnes and Noble. Today we were able to meet Peter Rabbit!
The giant Peter Rabbit has Max in a bear hug. Max loves meeting these costumed characters.
Max got a card in the mail from his Mama and Papa. Inside was $3. He was very excited to have some money, but he doesn't really get the whole concept. Here he is shopping for trains. He found a great set he wanted to buy with his $3, but it cost $25. It is so hard to say no to him! In the end he decided he would save his money for a special treat at the store.

Mia spends most of the time before storytime dancing on the stage. It is actually very difficult to keep her off of the stage during storytime. She has no fear and loves to be the center of attention. When she is not trying to get on the stage, she is running away from me as fast as she can.

Women at the Well

Last night was our ward relief society birthday party and the long awaited women at the well performance. Everything was decorated beautifully. The food was amazing. There were loaves of homeade bread, olives, figs, cucumber salad, and a delicious chicken salad. The performance went well. Everyone did a great job. Thank you Sara for all your hard work. It was a wonderful experience!

Chocolate Covered Mia

Being completely covered in chocolate is not unusual in our house, actually it is encouraged.

Colds

The cold weather has returned and it appears so has cold season. Max has definately got a big frog in his throat and a cough. Mia seems okay for now. Today we are staying in and hopefully getting better before too long. Getting a little taste of spring makes being inside so hard. Tonight is the big Women at the Well performance and I am hoping to sing well and looking forward to a great dinner.

Sunshine and Skinned Knees

Loving the sunshine! It was so good to be outside today and to feel the warmth on my skin. Max and Mia wore shorts, which was great for keeping cool, but bad for Mia's little knees. Her little legs are covered in scrapes, but her mood has not been dampened. She just runs around with her little skinned knees and a smile!

A Not Fun Place to Be

I just got back from Mia's 18 month appointment. I am pretty sure that the doctor's office is my very least favorite place to be. You sit in a little room for about an hour and then someone comes in and does nothing. After a little more than another hour the doctor comes in and does nothing. Not a full hour later someone comes in and gives your child a shot. You get to leave with them tired, hungry, and very sad. I am thrilled that we live in such a time full of medical miracles and wonderful vaccines and medications. I just wish some of those miracles involved less time in a tiny room at the doctor's office.

Saturday

I love the weekend!
I got up this morning and went to the gym. I had a great workout. I took the kids out to get some breakfast, because I was sooo craving bagels with smoked salmon. It seems to be something I crave every time I am pregnant. We spent the whole morning and most of the afternoon outside. It was so good to be out and not freezing! We drew with chalk and played with cars, very relaxing! Ty played 2 hours of raquetball with friends and came home pretty worn out. Ty watched Nacho Libre and Mia fell asleep. My new Rachel Ray magazine came. Max and I went to the store for groceries, and we all ate fudgesicles.

Mafioasa's!

Last night Ty and I went to dinner with some friends at a great Italian place downtown. The restaurant is called Mafioasa's and it is insanely busy! It is so loud inside but really fun. The food was great! I am always happy with pizza and so far Nashville pizza is the best I have had!

The car is unlocked and the checkbook fiasco has been taken care of. I now have a shiny new checkbook cover and I treated myself to a hazelnut hot chocolate! HAPPY :)
I locked my keys in the car and I lost my checkbook. Not going anywhere and not spending any money may seem like a great way to save, but the locksmith is charging $50.00 to come unlock my car.... SAD :(

Kitchen Cabinets

Max and Mia have taken to playing in the kitchen cabinets. It is a great distraction while I am cooking. I will turn around and see nothing but cabinets and then the doors will open and there they are!

Mia!

Baby #3 is currently under construction and is expected to debut at the end of September!

Super Ty!

A big shout out to Ty!
He got all A's on his second quarter grades!
Good job Ty, we are proud of you!

The weekend was great! On Saturday I went with some friends to a Pampered Chef party. It is just my type of thing and the company made it so much fun. Saturday night we had our traditional viewing of "Lost", stayed up too late, and fell asleep exhausted. On Sunday I had the opportunity to do singing time for the primary and nursery. It made the block go by so quickly. I was on my feet the whole time and by the time I made it home after a rehearsal for women at the well I was completely exhausted...again! Luckily Ty decided we should spend the evening watching Lord of the Rings. The kids and I all fell asleep on the floor. So far today I am not yet exhausted and I plan on going to bed early.
